Our story begins 100 years ago, with Al Ward, “the genius behind it all,” [David C. Smith, retired Ward’s editorial director], who was the first to publish production figures of the vehicle plants scattered across Detroit in Automotive’s booming 1920s, “[Al Ward] hired reporters who’d go out to get the news, not just wait around for what the companies wanted to tell them.” Ward’s Automotive Reports [WAR] was the first newsletter of its kind and Automakers were quick to realize it was in their interest to report official production figures, and WAR’s decades-long run as the self-described “Bible of the Auto Industry” began.

Fast forward 98 years, WAR has evolved to become WardsAuto. Its’ reach and community, now combined with the connection and event power of TU-Automotive, and the research expertise of Wards Intelligence, continues to deliver the data loved in WAR, alongside trend analysis, OEM report cards, industry-leading webinars, globally-recognized events, and more.
