Celebrating its 30th anniversary, Wards 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems honors innovative engineering in the latest powertrains offered in vehicles in the U.S. market. The winners showcase a diverse array of internal combustion and electrified propulsion technologies.

Each year, WardsAuto editors and analysts rigorously evaluate a wide variety of vehicles, meticulously scoring each powertrain on factors such as horsepower, torque, comparative specifications, NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) management, observed fuel efficiency, and the integration of innovative technology.

WardsAuto brings together hundreds of the world’s leading powertrain experts to honor the crème de la crème of the industry. This prestigious event, now in its 30th year, is the sole awards program in the nation dedicated to recognizing outstanding achievements in powertrain excellence.

This year, our celebration not only shined a spotlight on the 2024 winners, but also extended a special invitation to all honorees from the past three decades. In a unique ceremony, we paid tribute to their achievements. Additionally, we acknowledged and awarded the automaker that garnered the highest number of Wards 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems trophies. The awards ceremony, held in conjunction with The Battery Show North America from October 7-10, honored over 200 winning automaker members at an in-person reception on October 10 in the Grand Riverview Ballroom located in Huntington Place in Detroit, Michigan.
